Mama Marlee

Mama Marlee made it to San Diego where she is getting the chemotherapy she couldn’t get in Mexico. With the care and medication made available to her from Dr. Brad Steele at Torrey Pines Animal Hospital, she is making a speedy recovery. We have learned from her new foster mom that she would be happiest in a home without other dogs. And that she needs a high secure fence, at least initially, until she gets settled in to her new home. She spent the early years of her life on the street fighting to survive and to provide enough nourishment for her puppies. That has carried over into her not wanting to share what she has now. She loves her people so much, she would rather not share them with another dog. She appreciates her meals and treats soooo much, she would rather not share those either. Do you blame her?! If you understand what this sweet girl has been through you will fall in love with her and she will return the loyalty and love 10 times over.

(Previously known as “Mars”)

Whiskey is learning lots of new things like playing with his dog friends and sharing his toys. He knows “sit”, and “wait” and is learning patience at the front door when it is time to go for a walk. He has also decided that cats are too enticing to leave alone, so he would do best in a home without cats, unless you have a Boss Cat that knows how to handle dogs.

(previously known as “Mars”)

This little prince is living the good life in San Diego with his foster family while he waits for his furever family to find him. Many people lent a hand to get him where he is today. We think he was born around June 1st, 2019. Surfers For Strays rescued him from the Cachorros Hotsprings area with his sister Mar, (who has since been adopted and is also living in San Diego). The puppies got escorted on a plane and came to LA , California, where Mars got to hang out for a while with his foster dad Chase. Then Mars hitched a ride to Newport Beach, then San Diego.

He keeps his foster mom company while she works on the computer. He is learning to “sit” and is mostly potty-trained already. He has an older foster sister who is not sure about all the attention this little dude is getting, but he thinks she is the greatest. He is smart, and cuddly and growing up to be so handsome!

If you are interested in adopting Mars, take the first step by filling out an application to adopt from the link below. If you can contribute to the Surfers For Strays medical funds, it will help pay for Mars to get neutered before he gets adopted. Thank you! And Mucho Aloha!

Muzi is a local Zihuatanejo dog that was being fed by the local fisherman. Surfers for Strays took her in when a volunteer found her and her 10 pups under a bridge. She has had all of her vaccinations and is soon going to be spayed. Then she will be more than ready to start her new life!

She is a medium sized lab mix with bright and soulful eyes. She is one of the most lovable and loyal companions you could ever meet. She is good with all dogs, kids and even cats! Can you imagine making Muzi a part of your family?

Needs a Foster in San Diego

UPDATE: 2/5/2019 These two beautiful 1-year-old Shepard mix siblings, Larry and Lula, have been with us for some time now. Imagine you had a baby with a skin allergy, and it wasn’t the most beautiful baby physically but you could see right past the rough skin to the beautiful heart and into the soul through the eyes.
We don’t know their destiny but all we know is SurfersForStrays is sticking by their sides hoping for a foster to come through so they can be near the medical experts who have agreed to help with their case. If you are in San Diego, please help us to get Larry and Lula a foster home there. We are also looking for anyone with any knowledge about Ozone therapy …a possible treatment for them to help boost their immunity.

UPDATE! 12/29/2018 Lula and Larry are now at the vet’s and healing more every day. They should be ready for travel by January 12. As SurfersForStrays shops for their flight to San Diego, we are hoping a foster family in San Diego can step up to help them continue their journey to wellness and happiness.
If you can foster them please contact ASAP.
Please help spread the word and let’s give these fur babies a chance to thrive. Mucho Aloha!

These two easy going pups need a loving foster home in San Diego while they continue to receive treatment for an allergic condition. They are siblings and best friends. Larry loves to run on the beach and Lula loves love. Thanks to a generous sponsor their medical care is covered for life. They need an environment that is stress-free, clean and loving and someone to occasionally provide transport to their vet in North Park for check-ups.
